22 goals

I really need to get some more scheduled drafts out, there is so much that I need and want to post about that I am seriously starting to back up, you may have already seen my 22 post all about my birthday and seen that I already have some blog related goals that I haven’t even started on and I have added to the problems already with another 2000 photos and several new lipsticks.

I am not a huge resolution person, my birthday is too early in the new year to stick to a diet and I am too excited for it to stick to anything religiously, so I set myself goals for the new year of age ahead as the year is boring after the holiday season and my birthday.

This year I am going to either be adventurous or stupid and set myself 22.. god help me.

  1. To be more determined
  2. Find solutions to problems
  3. Follow through on goals
  4. To not give up so easily
  5. Stress less
  6. Have a positive outlook for the future
  7. Be more jolly and positive (swear this is the same as #6)
  8. De-clutter everything
  9. Eat better (breakfast crisps are great when you are 18)
  10. Have a proper skincare routine and stick to it
  11. Take up a new hobby
  12. Continue learning Turkish (I can manage an extremely basic conversation now)
  13. Save £1000
  14. Go one month (minimum) without buying new makeup, this will probably be the month Huda or Urban Decay release something
  15. Open up a bit more
  16. Learn something new and actually take a course in it
  17. Give my wardrobe a diet
  18. Engage more with the blogging community
  19. Try and wear less makeup
  20. Find a way to help others more
  21. Learn to cook from more recipes
  22. Actually commit to this list and report back in a years time!

The first seven goals were input from my boyfriend, which is kind of sad – he is definitely the bright and cheery to my miserable and dark yang!

I really hope I can stick to these and then reflect back on them and see how much I have done in a year. It is always a good idea to write down your goals and objectives so that you are more committed to them and they hold a greater meaning to you.

Do you set yourself goals for your new year of age ahead? Let me know in the comments below!

June reflection

Good morning Cheeleaders! I forgot to mention that in days where I have preplanned posts in my schedule that I will be posting twice that day 😊

I made June so low key, I kicked off the month with Tonsillitis (read and view the gross pics here), I was on a course of antibiotics which usually makes me feel a little ikky and even once I had recovered I was still experiencing the fatigue and sluggishness I had during my initial symptoms.

Then as the weather perked up, so did I. I wore bright and breezy clothing took a few lookbook photos and just enjoyed myself, my cherry tree gave a massive crop – roughly 3 mixing bowls full and once I sorted out the bad cherries it left me with several spare boxes I could give to my friends and colleagues.

There was a bit of sadness in June though, I’m convinced something sad happens every month. This time around my boyfriend announced he was leaving the place where we met… Yours truly cried that entire night (even after he tried cheering me up with McDonald’s), I also cried that weekend and a couple of times in the two weeks leading up to his departure although I did extremely well to not cry on his final day, instead we had a lovely date night where we had a movie and meal. We watched All Eyez On Me, the biography of Tupac Shakur – I had been waiting for it since I heard it was the pipeline to be filmed so a very long time and it did not disappoint. I would recommend anyone thinking of seeing it to ignore the critics and just go see it, I might even be going a second time with a friend who wants to see it. Then after going to 5 different restaurants that had up to 20 minutes waiting times to get in, we fell back on our trust Frankie & Bennies which didn’t have a waiting time 😋

To mark my boyfriends leaving, I decided to make a scrapbook of all our memories during his time. It took roughly 7 hours spread over a week to make, plan and source the materials but he really liked it and didn’t expect it.

There were a few other things, I was lucky enough to win the first giveaway I entered (thank you Brooke 😊), I also passed one of my exams at work.. I missed out on the second one by 6% but I’ll be retaking it soon so hopefully I  will pass it this time around.

How was June for you? Let me know in the comments below ⬇️

May reflection

Cheeky little surprise Friday post for you all my Cheeleaders 💃

This post is a little bit late, but my excuse is that I got sick (again) and you can read all about it here. Despite that little fun spoiler there were a few highlights from May that I am so excited to share with you all. These aren’t going to be in order of events as I’m just winging it with the most exciting ones first.

Colour Obstacle Rush 2017

After agreeing in November to book tickets, the date finally came around on the 20th! My boyfriend and I decided to do the Windsor run which is held on Windsor Race Course, it’s a 5km run mixed with lots of inflatable obstacles and one foam pit.

We had done some training runs a few weeks prior but I still found continuous running such a struggle so I was grateful for the obstacles to break up my run. I think there’s 24 obstacles and I managed to do 23 of them, the one that I passed on was a steep inflatable that I had to use a rope to pull myself up with in order to slide down on the other side. After about 3 attempts of getting almost to the top and then sliding back down again I gave up and walked around the flipping thing 🤣

It was really great fun, the photo albums are up on the colour obstacle runs official Facebook page now so see if you can spot me and the bean! We are really looking forward to doing it again next year. I am so grateful that I took the following Monday off as I was aching so badly, but it gave me a real desire to start running a bit more.

British Museum Visit

I went to London for the first time with my boyfriend during the first bank holiday of May, it was only fair as he actually lives there and has been so gracious to come to Slough literally all the time. Needless to say he still had to come to Slough as I hate train journeys, so he came all the way to Slough on the train to get me and then head back with me in tow – I did say I’m a lucky girl!

We went to the British Museum and it was a really great day, we are so lucky to have these tourist attractions for free in England and we should really make the most of them. You definitely need more than a day to fully explore and absorb the whole thing so I am looking forward to going back some time soon as a rainy day activity.

Promotional engagement with HTBlogger

I was recently lucky enough to be chosen to review The Google Checklist which I am nearly finished and I cannot wait to share with you how I got on with it. The book helps with stuff like SEO, social media marketing and really making the most out of your platform. HTBlogger gave me a complementary copy of this book in partnership with HEARTCMS.

First Mendhi and new baby
Unfortunately I’m not going to share photos of these because they’re personal things that don’t directly involve me but my neighbours very kindly invited my mum and I to their daughters mendhi, only I could make it as my mum was working but it was such a lovely gathering and the brides mendhi was stunning. My friend also gave birth to her adorable second child and I got to visit the Neonate Unit for a quick little cuddle, I must admit I am starting to warm to children – my friend makes super cute children so it’s hard not to like hers!

I passed my audit at work!

I was super happy to pass my audit at work very comfortably, it was one of my goals for 2017 which I will be sharing an update on very soon as we are halfway through the year now. It was really nice to see the level I am working to and the fact I am capable of working to the level of my peers and colleagues that I look up to.

12 days of Christmas: Day 12 – Reflection

Eastenders gave me a mild panic this evening, Shirley and Babe debated over when the 12th night falls whether it’s the 5th or 6th of January. This lead to a google search and thank goodness I don’t have to go back and rename the whole project 13 days of Christmas to incorporate an additional post for the 6th 😂
It’s finally the 12th day and I can’t believe how quickly it has gone. My original plan for these posts didn’t quite turn out how I expected however at least I have roughly 11 and a half months to prepare for it all over again (that’s right, this is becoming a tradition for the blog!).

So I just wanted to post my reflection on this, the pros and cons and also link to all the posts below.

Pro: posting every day was great, it provided me with an opportunity to post regularly and in turn promote my blog heavily on a daily basis. It has been my best ever month for comments, likes and views.

Cons: when the time comes to do it all again, I’ve got to be better organised. Partly this year was down to the last minute change in blog ideas but what with the holiday season making sure a post went live everyday was tiring. There were a couple of times I forgot to schedule a post which left me sitting down to drop everything to create the content.

Would I do it all very again tho? Definitely.
For me posting is very much a quality over quantity kind of thing and I really didn’t want to lose sight of that by posting everyday. It was difficult creating relevant content every day but I managed it, I seriously salute anyone who participated in Blogmas as that’s way too much for me at the moment.

Already, with the week not out yet I have almost been viewed 100 times and it is all thanks to these additional posts, I really hope that this momentum keeps up throughout the year and helps me reach my target of 4000 views.

Here is a recap of all my posts if you missed them:

  1. How I got in to blogging
  2. Onion socks a cold remedy
  3. Ps… pointed metallic false nails review
  4. Holy grail products of 2016
  5. Keeping organised and post ideas
  6. Best hair growth methods
  7. 2016 reflection and 2017 goals 💪
  8. How I de-clutter possessions
  9. How to blog from your phone
  10. Promotion and Engagement
  11. How to get freebies

Thank you so much for sticking by me these past 12 days, I wish you all the best for the year ahead and can’t wait to do this again with a different theme. Let me know in the comments below what you thought and if you have any suggestions ⬇

12 days of Christmas: Day 7 – 2016 reflection and 2017 goals 💪

With only about 7 and a half hours until we ring in the new year I just wanted to do a reflective post on what was 2016 (because nothing extreme could happen in the next 7 and a half hours right??)

2016 has been such a whirlwind but I’m ending it in the best possible way with so many highlights. I finally got a permanent job which I started in July, it is a Traineeship which will hopefully see me gain the recognised qualification that will allow me to progress in to my career in the coming years, it is also the biggest team I’ve ever been a part of and they are all so lovely. I also met the amazing human being in April who 6 months later I got to call my boyfriend, I am so lucky to have him in my life and have never met a more affectionate, supportive and genuine soul. My best friend and I went on a couple of adventures including our first attendance together at the Cake and Bake show in London, our friendship and bond has grown so much this year and I am truly blessed to know such a determined, gracious and honest woman. I also smashed my target of gaining 1500+ views on my blog before the year was out which took place in over 50 countries, I can’t wait to see what my blog will bring the new year.

I don’t have high hopes for 2017 as that always leads to disappointment but there are several things that I want to achieve and look forward to such as:

  • Passing my audit at work and being promoted a band up
  • Reaching 4000 views and 20o followers on my blog (no pressure)
  • Once reaching my target amount of views and follows, potentially taking my blog to self hosted levels
  • Going on a few weekend mini breaks during the summer and towards the autumn to explore new parts of England

Depending on how things go with my blog I might also consider vlogging but that’s something for future Leilani to think about.

As far as resolutions go, I’m not much of a New Years Resolution kind of person. I believe that if you have a flaw now you shouldn’t have to wait for a new year to fix it as you are just prolonging that flaw, you get a new 1st every month so why not do something about it then as you have been given 12 chapter and 365 new starts. If I had to put something down on paper however it would probably be to learn another language at the moment I’m looking at Turkish as I’ve noticed a lot of my following is coming from there and it seems easy enough. Another thing I would like to do is read more, it’s definitely a pastime that I really enjoyed doing until life got in the way so it’s something I want to get back on. I also want to push forward with my 70/30 diet and take it even further by going 80/20 (80% vegetarian and 20% meat).

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has read my blog, shared 2016 with me and supported me. My hopes for the coming year is that more conflicts are resolved in the world so that people can start piecing their lives back together and that humanity connects with more love in their hearts towards one another ☮✌

How has 2016 been to you and what are your goals/hopes for 2017? Let me know in the comments below.
