22 🎉

I cannot believe it has been over a week since my birthday on Saturday, having a birthday on the weekend is the most convenient thing ever as not only are you excited for the weekend but also for your birthday, it makes planning so much easier – who wants to go to a club on a Wednesday? I also made the most of it and took Friday and Monday off at work to get a much needed four day weekend after the chaos of the holiday season!

January reflection

I actually don’t know where to start, I think this month has probably been one of the best for me hands down ever (no pressure other 11 months). So much happened and there was so much positivity.

Starting off from my blogs perspective, I was just finishing off my 12 days of Christmas project at the beginning of the month and the end of the month saw me surpass 1900 views in total, January was my most successful month for views with my posts being viewed 375 times by 245 individual people.

From a personal perspective, it was a really good month. I had my birthday which amounted to 72 hours of celebrations, I felt so loved during the whole thing and I finally got my tragus pierced which I’m having the labret changed tomorrow so I can’t wait to share an update with you all. January did feel like it lasted forever but I was having too much fun to care. There were some other moments which unfortunately I can’t put on my blog but they made some really amazing memories for me and I realised just how important some things in my life are and how badly I want them.

On the 28th Chinese New Year was brought in, this year is the year of the Rooster so my forecast (I’m born under the pig sign if anyone is interested) is looking good and I am really looking forward to the next 12 lunar months.

I decided to switch up my diet and give myself a health kick and become more active which saw me lose almost a kilogram in 3 weeks, I could see and feel a real difference in my physique. My waist became trimmer and my stomach flatter.

How did January treat you? Well hopefully, let me know in the comments below ⬇

72 hour birthday celebrations

Surprise birthday cake number 2

I had one of the best birthdays ever this year hands down, it semi started on Thursday at work and ended Sunday night hence the title.

This was my last day at work for a week, my surprise started with balloons with ’21’ all over my desk as I got in. As the day progressed, my colleagues gathered in the main office to sing me happy birthday and present me with my presents and card from the team. This team is the biggest one I’ve worked in and it was such an amazing feeling having everyone gather around me.

That day and night felt like Christmas Eve, the only other person who shared the same excitement was probably Donald Trump (as he got inaugurated on my birthday)… I haven’t felt that way over my birthday in years.

I spent my actual birthday with my boyfriend who laid on the best surprises for me, the first surprise was the movies. I originally thought we were going to see Live by night as it’s the sort of thing we would be watch, but the night before he asked me if I would be ok with a different film which I was fine with as we have very similar taste in music and film thankfully. On the way to the cinema he told me he hoped that my concentration would last the duration of the film and I said it should do, questioning the length of the film, after a couple of guesses I figured out it was a bollywood movie. I WAS SO FREAKING EXCITED!! Anyone close to me would know I love a good bollywood movie but only ever watched them at home, we watched Dangal. It was amazing, so emotional and the pride you feel at the end for the family was unreal

Then after a quick patch up on my makeup, we jumped in the car for a mystery destination (for me). I figured out from the direction that we were headed for Windsor and I was right. We had a nice romantic walk along the riverside before we headed off to the restaurant (surprise, I didn’t have a clue where we were headed).

The table was booked for Meimo, again another great choice because I love Mediterranean food and being Moroccan cuisine it was right up my street. The restaurant was faultless, the service and food was 10/10 and I would definitely visit again, surprise number 3 came with dessert, my boyfriend arranged a rendition of happy birthday and a candle in my cake to mark the celebration, I was in shock after that. I couldn’t believe how much of an effort this man had put in for me (this was also before I opened my birthday present).

Shortly after, the waiter brought us some complementary on the house mint tea as part of the celebrations. It was hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to, definitely check it out if you’re in Windsor. We rounded off the evening with me finally opening my present and then heading home to spend some family time and also opening my presents from them.

A beautiful bunch of Tulips from my mums friend

This was birthday number 2 or as the new tradition my best friend has set up: 21 on 21st, she spent my 20th on the 20th, next year will be 22 on 22nd etc until I’m 31.

This days account is a little shorter as I’ve already covered the main activity of the day which was my tragus piercing experience and that kick started the day off. The plan for the day was no real plan, we shopped a little and chatted then we stopped off in my favourite restaurant in Uxbridge – Uxbridge Mangal which is Turkish cuisine.

Chicken beyti sarma 😍

We went back to my friends house and I said I was going to the bathroom to clean my new piercing as Uxbridge has dirty air that I didn’t really want in my new open wound. So my friend said that was ok as she was making hot chocolate anyway, after about 3 minutes of being in the bathroom she shouted from the kitchen (she lives in a bungalow) asking how long I would be in the bathroom and I said I would be out in a minute. So I got rid of the cottons I used, washed my hands again and started making my way back to the kitchen only to greet my friend halfway that was hurriedly trying to get me back in the bathroom saying I had to stay in there for a little longer…. she came back to get me in darkness, saying there had been a powercut when really there was this:

I couldn’t believe she had got me a surprise cake, another rendition of happy birthday later and we were tucking in to this very yummy Victoria sponge.

Overall I had such a good birthday, and it was all down to being surrounded by amazing people. I can’t wait for their birthdays to hopefully return the love tenfold. Comment below with your best birthday memories or what you have planned if yours is coming up soon ⬇

12 things January babies can relate to

Happy hump day everyone, hope the week is treating you well I know mine is because after Thursday I’m off for a week and one day as it’s my birthday which is why today’s post is about stuff January babies can relate to and maybe even December ones depending on where their birthday falls. So without further ado let’s jump in to it!

  1. You contemplate a mid year birthday. Being born in January means you’ve had the holiday excitement Halloween, Diwali, Christmas, Hanukkah and New years which means after your birthday and Easter there’s nothing really left to celebrate between May-October. Leaving you with the idea of a made up birthday celebrating the fact you’re now 21 and a half.
  2. You’re poor. If you’re like me and unlucky enough to have your birthday days before payday (so close yet so far) you’ll know that your bank card is still trying to catch it’s breath from the holiday season and you were so busy buying presents and alcohol you forgot you’ll be another year older in 3 weeks time causing your celebrations to roll in to February.
  3. Joint holiday and birthday gifts. This one doesn’t really bother me so much, a gift is a gift but I know a lot of December and January kiddos that get one big present which is for Christmas and Birthday.
  4. If you’re really unlucky you might just get to celebrate your birthday on Blue Monday which is known as the most depressing day of the year, usually the 3rd Monday of January there is no escaping this one.
  5. Your presents are nicer compared to people born later in the year. January means sales which brings the nicer presents along as the giftee managed to pick it up at a rock bottom price.
  6. Just when you thought you were done with the present buying for the holiday season, you know 5 people born in January.
  7. Alternatively your present may not have been originally intended for you and is actually regifted.
  8. You’re more likely to be sick on your birthday because it’s in the middle of winter. I’ve been sick so many times for my birthday, it’s either that or Christmas.
  9. Your plans are altered due to the weather. When I was growing up I always wanted it to snow on my birthday, it did in 2012. Since then snow is very much unwelcome during my celebrations.
  10. Birthday dinners are tinged by your delegates referencing their diet several times and that they’re going to “be good” with every menu choice
  11. Your outfits aren’t as cute as they could have been because it’s -5°c outside and you’re wrapped up like an Eskimo
  12. When you were little your birthday felt miles away following Christmas, now before you know it you’ll blink and it’s your birthday eve.

So my birthday falls on the 20th meaning I’m on the nose of Capricorn going in to Aquarius as I was born in England. I definitely identify as a Capricorn and carry a lot of strong Goat traits. Let me know in the comments below if you share similar problems about your birthday or if you experience different ones ⬇
